It’s Not About How Long You Stayed — It’s About How Much You’ve Done

Promotion is not a gift for loyalty — it’s a reflection of impact.

I’ve seen people with 20 years of service who’ve lived the same year, in the same position, 20 times. And I’ve seen others, in two years, make the kind of impact that changes an entire team.

I know this view may not sit well with everyone, especially in a field where we’re taught that years equal value.

But for me, promotion is not a gift for loyalty — it’s a reflection of impact.

I respect everyone who has given years of their life to hospitality. But staying long in one position can easily turn into a comfort zone, and the comfort zone can become the biggest cage for creativity.
